The education I receive through this program prepares me for success in a challenging and productive career.
I believe in the dignity of work. I know that diligent effort is the foundation upon which all success is built. I recognize the significance of home economics related industries to the strength of our economy and the viability of the family unit in our society.
I believe that a successful career professional must be equipped with effective interpersonal and leadership skills. I recognize the FHA-HERO organization as an excellent opportunity for personal development. Through involvement in FHA-HERO activities I am confident I will improve my value in the workplace and my contribution to family and community.
I believe in democracy’s meaning, the value that comes from people who are different in origin, strength and contributions. I know that democracy has its roots in positive family living and must first be achieved in the home before it can be achieved in the world.

How often does the chapter meet?
A: This varies upon the school situations, interests, and needs of the members. Some chapters meet weekly, others twice a month. To maintain student interest, it is suggested a chapter meet a minimum of twice a month. The Chapter Executive Council should meet a minimum of twice a month as well.
What goes on during the chapter meeting?
A: Chapter meetings might be one or a composite of several types-business, such as election of officers and handling routine business; social, which are recreational type meetings-party, picnic, potluck; community outreach, in which the members work on projects to help people or work on State Project Thrusts; educational, designed to help members acquire additional knowledge on a particular subject through a special speaker, panel, film, etc.; and leadership training, designed to assist student participation in activities of personal and leadership skills. These might also be the components of one meeting.
What officers would the chapter have?
A: In keeping with the number of state and region elected offices, the chapter would have a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, historian, and reporter. Each chapter may determine the number of officers they wish to have. Whatever number of officers is selected, the more students who can have the opportunity to develop leadership abilities and serve in leadership roles whether it be as an officer or a committee member, the better.
What kind of skills do I need to be an officer?
A: President: Serves as ex-officio member to all committees. Plans agenda for meetings.
Vice-President: Overseas elections and encourages others to be a leader.
Secretary: Takes great notes.
Treasurer: Organized and keeps financial reports.
Historian: Takes pictures, is creative and social.
Reporter: Good communication skills, good at writing and talking to others.

How will you participate in FHA this year?
- Fundraising Opportunities (Cookbooks, Coupon Books, Carnival, Restaurant Fundraisers, Sunglasses, etc)
- Community Service Projects (Food Drives, Can Drives, Socks for Soldiers, etc)
- Social Events (Hockey Games, Bowling Night, Pizza Night, etc)
- State Project Thrust (Community Service Projects, Edible Garden, Teens in the Driver Seat, Etc.)
- Chapter Manual (Create the LHS Chapter Scrapbook)
- Chapter Exhibit (Participate in CRE on behalf of the Chapter)
- Community Involvement CRE's (Participate in Competition Events for Awards + Scholarships)
