JOB MARKET: ON THE RISE
The hospitality industry continues to grow both nationally and internationally, and with it, the need for qualified employees at all levels. While overall job growth in the United States has been estimated at 14 percent between now and 2014, growth in the hospitality industry is expected to rise by nearly 18 percent. In fact, in January of 2012 the White House issued an Executive Order aimed at boosting travel and tourism jobs. Recognizing the fact that the hospitality and tourism industry is leading a recovery focused on job creation and positive gains for the economy, the White House acknowledged that jobs are waiting for the right people with the skills and knowledge to lead effectively.
HOW YOU CAN HELP @ HOME
Chef Lane expects her students to practice not only in the classroom but practice the skills at home as well. She requests that all of her students learn from their mistakes, keeping their head up high ready to practice the technique again and again until the student starts to feel more confident around the kitchen. Try your students cooking in the kitchen, be encouraging and supportive and supply constructive criticism.
HOW YOU CAN HELP @ SCHOOL
Chef Lane would like to establish the CULINARY ROP BOOSTERS, but she cannot do it without your help and support. Chef wants to give the students every opportunity possible to succeed. She wants to challenge the students to go to State and National Competitions. And of course obtain funding for additional equipment and supplies.
Chef Lane would like all the students to be able to experience behind the scenes field trips to places such as:
Regional + State + National Competitions/ Leadership Conferences, Restaurants, Farm Tours, Hospitality + Culinary Schools, Food Warehouses, Etc.
Can you donate your time? What about product? Or does you company donate money? Maybe help with fundraising? Have a fundraising idea?? Have a contact within the Agriculture (Animal, Dairy, Egg, etc) Community? Want to take charge of the CULINARY ROP BOOSTERS?? What about helping with a Fireworks stand? Or designing apparel for fundraising?? All ideas welcome!!
